Compress video online
Reduce the file size of a video with this free video compressor. This online compression makes videos smaller so you can upload them to the web or send them using a messenger.
Every video app in one place
Pick an app, drop your file in, and download the result. No account, no install, no watermark.
Why compress a video
Ask for a size, not a guess
Set a target size in megabytes and the compressor works towards it. Leave it on the recommended setting and the engine picks the trade-off for you.
A setting for email attachments
Most mail providers refuse an attachment over 25 MB. The email option aims at that ceiling so the file goes through instead of bouncing.
Nothing to install
Compression runs on our servers over an encrypted connection. There is no software to download and no account needed to use it.
Three ways to choose the size
Recommended compression hands the decision to the engine. No size cap is sent, so it picks a bitrate that keeps the picture reasonable for the input it was given. This is the setting to leave alone if you have no particular number in mind.
Target size lets you name a figure in megabytes. The compressor works towards it, which means a large source squeezed into a small number will visibly lose detail. The size is the constraint you chose, and quality is what pays for it.
The email option is the same mechanism fixed at the attachment limit most providers enforce, so you do not have to remember what that limit is.
The three modes sit in the settings panel beside the uploader.
What you can upload
MP4 is what most people bring and it is far from the only format that works. MOV from an iPhone, AVI, WEBM, MKV, WMV, FLV and the rest all compress the same way, and you can add several files at once, and each comes back as its own video with the same setting applied.
The output is MP4. It is the format that plays on the widest range of devices and players, which is usually the point of making a file smaller in the first place.
You can also paste a link instead of uploading, or pull the file in from cloud storage.
Free to use, and private by default
Compressing a video is free and needs no account. Every upload and download runs over an encrypted connection, so your footage cannot be read on the way.
Processing is fully automated: nobody watches your videos and they are never used to train AI models. You keep the copyright and the ownership of both the video you upload and the one you get back.
The servers that do the work are in Europe.

Questions about compressing video
Will compressing lose quality?
Some, always: making a video smaller means storing less of it. How much you notice depends on how far you push it. Recommended compression aims for a balance; naming a small target size for a long or high-resolution video is where the loss becomes obvious.
How small can a video get?
You can ask for anything from 1 MB upwards. Whether the result is still watchable is a different question: a two-hour 4K recording squeezed into 10 MB will not be. Try a size, look at the result, and adjust.
What format do I get back?
MP4, whatever you upload. It plays on essentially every phone, browser and player, which is normally why a file is being made smaller.
Can I compress several videos at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like and each is compressed separately with the same setting, then returned as its own file.
Is there a file size limit?
There is a limit on how large an upload can be, and it is higher on a paid plan than for a visitor without an account. The pricing page lists the current figures.
Does it cost anything?
No. Compressing a video here is free and does not require an account. A paid plan raises the upload limit and how many files you can process at once.
